Deuteronomy 6

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which יהוה your God (Elohim) commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land whither you go to possess it;

That you mightest fear יהוה your God (Elohim), to keep all His statutes and His commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

Hear therefore, O Yisrael, and observe to do it, that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as יהוה God (Elohim) of your fathers hath promised you, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

40Hear, O Yisrael: יהוה our God is one יהוה (Shema Yisrael: YHWH Eloheinu YHWH echad).

And you shalt love יהוה your God (Elohim) with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart;

And you shalt teach them diligently unto your children, and shalt talk of them when you sittest in your house, and when you walkest by the way, and when you liest down, and when you risest up.

And you shalt bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

And you shalt write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.

And it shall be, when יהוה your God (Elohim) shall have brought you into the land which He sware unto your fathers, to Avraham, to Isaac (Yitschaq), and to Jacob (Yaaqov), to give you great and goodly cities, which you buildedst not,

And houses full of all good things, which you filledst not, and wells digged, which you diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which you plantedst not; when you shalt have eaten and be full;

Then beware lest you forget יהוה, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt (Mitsrayim), from the house of bondage.

You shalt fear יהוה your God (Elohim), and serve Him, and shalt swear by His name.

You shall not go after other gods (elohim), of the gods (elohim) of the people which are round about you;

(For יהוה your God (Elohim) is a jealous God (El) among you) lest the anger of יהוה your God (Elohim) be kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.

You shall not tempt יהוה your God (Elohim), as you tempted Him in Massah.

You shall diligently keep the commandments of יהוה your God (Elohim), and His testimonies, and His statutes, which He hath commanded you.

And you shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of יהוה, that it may be well with you, and that you mayest go in and possess the good land which יהוה sware unto your fathers,

To cast out all your enemies from before you, as יהוה hath spoken.

And when your son asketh you in time to come, saying, ‘What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which יהוה our God (Elohim) hath commanded you?’

Then you shalt say unto your son: ‘We were Pharaoh (Paroh)’s bondmen in Egypt (Mitsrayim); and יהוה brought us out of Egypt (Mitsrayim) with a mighty hand;

And יהוה shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt (Mitsrayim), upon Pharaoh (Paroh), and upon all his household, before our eyes.

And He brought us out from thence, that He might bring us in, to give us the land which He sware unto our fathers.

And יהוה commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear יהוה our God (Elohim), for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before יהוה our God (Elohim), as He hath commanded us.’
