Malachi 1

The burden of the word of יהוה to Yisrael by N66Malachi (Malakhi).

“I have loved you,” saith יהוה. “Yet you say, ‘Wherein have You loved us?’ “Was not Esaw, Jacob (Yaaqov)’s brother?” saith יהוה; “yet I loved Jacob (Yaaqov),

And Esaw I have hated, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.”

Whereas Edom saith, “We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places.” Thus saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot): “They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and the people against whom יהוה hath indignation forever.

And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, ‘יהוה will be magnified from the border of Yisrael.’

A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master; if then I be a Father, where is Mine honor? And if I be a Master (Adon), where is My fear? saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot) unto you, O priests (kohanim), that despise My name. And you say, ‘Wherein have we despised Your name?’

You offer polluted bread upon Mine altar; and you say, ‘Wherein have we polluted You?’ In that you say, ‘The table of יהוה is contemptible.’

And if you offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now unto your governor, will he be pleased with you, or accept your person?” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot).

“And now, please, beseech God (El) that He will be gracious unto us. This hath been by your means; will He regard your persons?” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot).

“Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? Neither do you kindle fire on Mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you,” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot), “Nor will I accept an offering at your hand.

For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same My name shall be great among the nations; and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, and a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the nations,” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot).

“But you have profaned it, in that you say, ‘The table of יהוה is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.’

You said also, ‘Behold, what a weariness is it!’ And you have snuffed at it,” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot); “And you brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus you brought an offering; should I accept this of your hand?” saith יהוה.

“But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord (Adonai) a corrupt thing; for I am a great King,” saith יהוה of hosts (YHWH Tsevaot), “And My name is feared among the nations.”
