Joshua 1

Now after the death of Moses (Mosheh) the servant of יהוה, it came to pass, that יהוה spake unto N32aJoshua (Yehoshua) the son of Nun, Moses (Mosheh)’s minister, saying,

“Moses (Mosheh) My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan (Yarden), you, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Yisrael.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses (Mosheh).

From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life: as I was with Moses (Mosheh), so I will be with you; I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

Be strong and of a good courage; for unto this people shalt you divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Only be you strong and very courageous, that you mayest observe to do according to all the Torah which Moses (Mosheh) My servant commanded you; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you mayest prosper whithersoever you goest.

This Book of the Torah shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shalt meditate therein day and night, that you mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shalt make your way prosperous, and then you shalt have good success.

Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for יהוה your God (Elohim) is with you whithersoever you goest.”

Then Joshua (Yehoshua) commanded the officers of the people, saying,

Pass through the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare you victuals; for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan (Yarden), to go in to possess the land, which יהוה your God (Elohim) giveth you to possess it.’”

And to the Reubenites (Reuveni), and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Menashsheh, spake Joshua (Yeho-shua), saying,

“Remember the word which Moses (Mosheh) the servant of יהוה commanded you, saying, יהוה your God (Elohim) hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses (Mosheh) gave you on this side Jordan (Yarden); but you shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

Until יהוה have given your brethren rest, as He hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which יהוה your God (Elohim) giveth them: then you shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses (Mosheh) יהוה’s servant gave you on this side Jordan (Yarden) toward the sunrising.”

And they answered Joshua (Yehoshua), saying, “All that you commandest us we will do, and whithersoever you sendest us, we will go.

According as we hearkened unto Moses (Mosheh) in all things, so will we hearken unto you. Only יהוה your God (Elohim) be with you, as He was with Moses (Mosheh).

Whosoever he be that doth rebel against your commandment, and will not hearken unto your words in all that you commandest him, he shall be put to death. Only be strong and of a good courage.”
